In today’s 24 x 7 global economy, your Email servers cannot afford to be off-line for even a small period of time. Availability refers to the ability of the end users to do the Email transactions without hindrance. If the end user cannot access the system, it is said to be unavailable. Generally, the term downtime is used to refer to periods when Email server / system is unavailable. The principal goal of a high availability is to minimize the downtime.
Availability measurement is difficult and has been interpreted differently by different experts. Mail-stack believes that a true measure of availability should rely on all functionalities available to end users when required.

High availability is achieved by horizontal clustering, wherein, additional cluster component is added to the cluster in the form of separate instance in separate server. Business Continuity will be ensured as the Passive Server monitors the health of Active Server and becomes Active as and when required.
